ABOUT
- My name is Katie, and I'm 23 years old. I currently live in Portland, OR where I work as a web author, however, I was born and raised in Texas. I have a B.S. ('05) and M.A. ('07) in radio-television-film from the University of Texas at Austin. Although I can't operate a camera, I can tell you an awful lot about popular Hindi cinema. I like to travel, take pictures of things, read, write, watch movies, and cook/eat delicious foods. I'm up for trying pretty much anything new, and there is very little that, upon trying, I don't like or enjoy. For right now, my main goal is simply to get furniture for my brand new apartment (I currently have none) and someday (soon-ish) to unpack all of my boxes.
- I still think a lot about what I would like to be when I grow up. I currently work in a cubicle-ridden corporate environment that I'm not so much fond of (my cube blog) and I'm looking forward to someday being able to change careers to something more edifying. My ideal careers include: 1) world travel journalist, 2) world travel television show host, 3) UN translator who lives in Geneva, but travels from one continent to another in the event of major crises -- despite not speaking any other languages, 4) actress/heiress who is equal parts world traveler and world saver -- despite being neither an actress or heiress. I realize these goals are pretty unlikely, so my realist career goals include: 1) self-employed web designer, doing sites primarily for small local businesses and non-profit organizations, 2) teaching film history and theory at a small college or junior college (non-research institution), 3) possibly starting an outreach program for middle and high school students to teach web design, or possibly even film. I also would like to go back to school for both my Ph.D. in film and for a degree in engineering, probably electrical or aerospace. Who knows when/if those will happen though.
- I have a pretty long list of lifetime goals that all fit under the umbrella goal "To See/Do Everything." I've listed most of those here, so you're welcome to peruse.
